Dawda & Admeta String Quartet

Masser af strenge mødes i vidunderlige musik, når Dawda Jobarteh og hans kora sammen med Admeta String Quartet fortolker både vestafrikanske sange og nye kompositioner. Koraen er et traditionelt strengeinstrument fra Gambia, der er mange hundrede år gammelt.

Dawda stammer fra en tradition, hvor musikeren lærer og husker musikken og improviserer oven i det planlagte, mens det
strygekvartetten spiller ofte er omhyggeligt arrangeret og nedskrevet til mindste detalje. På scenen mødes, interagerer og blandes traditionerne på interessante måder, og der er også plads til at udfordre de århundrede gamle måder at spille på de forskellige strygeinstrumenter og give plads til at violinerne, bratschen og celloen kan improvisere.

Admeta String Quartet er Freja Guldberg Larsen (violin), Selma Trammitzke Milling (violin), Kirsten Buus Szakacs (bratsch) og Maria Kolby Sonstad (cello), de har som strygekvartet spillet både klassisk, rytmisk og folkemusik. Søndag kan I opleve Dawda solo med koraen.

Koncerten i Amager Bio bliver særligt lys-sat, så det både er en oplevelse for øjne og ører.

Billetter: Koncerten er en del af BIG BANG og en billet gælder til en hel festivaldag. I infoboden veksler i billetkøbet til et armbånd og så er i klar til at gå på opdagelse i hele festivalprogrammet, da der er fri adgang til alle aktiviteter og forestillinger, hvor der er plads. Til denne koncert skal I have en pladsbillet som I også kan få i info-boden.

Hva' for en festival?

BIG BANG er en international familiefestival med fokus på musik og lyd. Vi fylder Amagers Musiktorv og husene omkring med fantastiske musikforestillinger, skøre installationer, lydeksperimenter, vidunderlige koncerter, workshops, kreativt værksted og ægte festivalhygge!

Forestillingerne foregår i Amager Bio, BETA, Teater ZeBU, og Børnekulturhus Ama’r, som alle ligger i forbindelse med festivalpladsen, hvor der vil være aktiviteter og koncerter. Til de indendørs forestillinger, kan I med fordel booke en plads i infoboden når I ankommer, da der vil være enkelte forestillinger med begrænset kapacitet. Snacks og drikkevarer kan købes på pladsen, men I er også velkomne til at medbringe jeres eget.

Lots of strings come together in wonderful music when Dawda Jobarteh and his kora, together with the Admeta String Quartet, interpret both West African songs and new compositions. The kora is a traditional string instrument from Gambia that is many centuries old.

Dawda comes from a tradition where the musician learns and remembers the music and improvises on top of what is planned, while the
string quartet plays is often carefully arranged and written down to the smallest detail. On stage, the traditions meet, interact and mix in interesting ways, and there is also room to challenge the centuries-old ways of playing the different string instruments and give room for the violins, viola and cello to improvise.

The Admeta String Quartet is Freja Guldberg Larsen (violin), Selma Trammitzke Milling (violin), Kirsten Buus Szakacs (viola) and Maria Kolby Sonstad (cello), they have played both classical, rhythmic and folk music as a string quartet. On Sunday you can experience Dawda solo with the kora.

The concert in Amager Bio will be specially lit, so it is an experience for both the eyes and the ears.

Performance times: The concert takes place Saturday at 11.30 & 14.00 

Tickets: The concert  is part of BIG BANG festival and a ticket is valid for an entire festival day. At the info booth, exchange your ticket for a wristband and you are ready to explore the entire festival program, as there is free access to all activities and performances where there is space. For this particular concert you will need an extra ticket as a seat reservation - you can get it a the info booth.

Age: The concert is open for everyone

What kind of festival?

BIG BANG is an international family festival with a focus on music and sound. We fill Amager's Musiktorv and the surrounding buildings with fantastic music performances, crazy installations, sound experiments, wonderful concerts, workshops, creative workshops and real festival fun!

The performances take place in Amager Bio, BETA, Teater ZeBU, and Børnekulturhus Ama'r, all of which are located in connection with the festival site, where there will be activities and concerts. For the indoor performances, it is a good idea to book a seat at the information booth when you arrive, as there will be some performances with limited capacity. Snacks and drinks can be purchased at the venue, but you are also welcome to bring your own.
